Problem: The IRS—not eFile.com—rejected your tax return because your name and Social Security Number (SSN) don't match IRS records.
Solution: Sign into your eFile.com account at https://mytaxes.efile.com/1040/SignIn/. Click Name and Address on the left side of your account screen and review your name and SSN. If the information is entered incorrectly, correct it and save your changes. Then re-eFile your federal and state returns at no additional charge. However, if it's entered correctly, print your return(s) from your account, sign it, and mail it to the IRS and/or state tax agency. Find the right address to use at https://www.efile.com/irs-mailing-addresses/.
Contact Social Security and see if the issue with the SSN and/or name is with them, as they provide data to the IRS: Social Security Administration. You may also need to call IRS taxpayer assistance at 1-800-829-1040.
