Problem: The State of Illinois—not eFile.com—has rejected the secondary taxpayer driver license signature field because it does not exactly match what the State has on record.
Solution: Sign into your eFile.com account and click on My Return. Here, follow the instructions on the right side to correct this. You can either correct the spouse's Illinois driver's license/state ID information or use a different signature verification method on your Illinois return. Note: If the spouse didn't file an Illinois return last year, his or her Illinois driver's license/state ID is the only signature verification method available to them. If they don't have this, you'll need to file a paper return this year. Next year, however, you should be able to e-file.
After that, you can re-eFile your federal and state returns at no additional charge.
