Problem: The Illinois Department of Taxation, Revenue is asking you to make a correction on your IL Tax Return.
Solution: Please sign in to your eFile.com account now and review the messages on the right side page.
1. Sign in: https://mytaxes.efile.com/1040/SignIn/
2. Then click on State Taxes on the left and on the right side the small blue link: I'd like to see the forms I've filled out or search for a form, then select the state in question and edit the form.
3. Click on ID and the down arrow on the right and review IL Form IL 1040. The Primary Taxpayer Social Security Number (SSN) and the first four characters of the last name do not match our records from prior year returns. Verify the information and make corrections under Name & Address—see the green menu on the left.
4. After you have made the necessary corrections, you can re-efile your IL return. However, if you are certain that the information is already correct and no corrections are necessary, you must file a paper return and attach a copy of the primary taxpayer Social Security card to the paper return. If a name change was due to a court petition, attach a copy of the documentation received from the court showing the approved name change.
If you have questions, please contact us as soon as possible so we can assist you with your Tax Return.
