Problem: The IRS—not eFile.com—has rejected your return because IRS records show that your SSN belongs to a deceased taxpayer.
Solution: Sign into your eFile.com account, click on Name and Address on the left side of your account screen, and review your SSN to see that you entered it correctly. If it's incorrect, correct it and save your changes. Then, click File on the left side of your account screen and follow all the on-screen prompts to re-efile your federal and state returns for free.
However, if the SSN is correct, please PRINT your returns from your account, sign them, and MAIL them to the IRS and state tax agency. See printing and mailing instructions plus addresses based on your resident state. The mailing address for your state return can be found on your return PDF or by finding your state at https://www.efile.com/states/
You might then want to follow up with either the Social Security Administration and/or contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to discuss your tax return in more detail.
