IRS Tax Return Rejection Code R0000-503-02

Problem: The IRS—not eFile.com—rejected your Federal Tax Return because the Name OR Social Security Number (SSN) you entered for your spouse does not match what the IRS has in their records. The IRS receives this information from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

Solution: Let us help you turn this into an IRS acceptance. Sign into your eFile.com account and click Name and Address on the left side menu in your account, scroll down to Spouse SSN and verify if it is correct. Be sure to make any corrections and save them. Then, click File on the left side of your account screen and follow all the on-screen prompts to re-efile your return(s) at no extra charge.

However, if you entered the information correctly, PRINT your return from your account, sign it, and MAIL it to the IRS. See printing and mailing instructions plus addresses based on your resident state. You may need to print, sign, and mail your State Tax Return to the State Tax Agency. After that, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and discuss your tax return in more detail since they may need to correct their records.
