When Are Your Taxes Due?

While the tax return deadline is in April of each year, the following October of the same year is the e-file deadline. Once the final deadline passes, you must mail in paper forms as back taxes cannot be e-filed on eFile.com.

Tax Day Deadlines, Refund Status by State

Generally, each state's tax deadline falls in line with the IRS Tax Day deadline in April. The table below reports each state's latest income tax rate, tax return related deadlines, and a link to the state estimator tool which will display the status of your state refund.

The income tax rates indicate the range at which the income earned during the tax year will be taxed at on the state level. Note that many states tax at a lower rate for lower income, similar to how federal income tax brackets work. See state income tax rates and navigate to a specific state to see rates based on income.
